Description

Rosewood is a colourful cottage garden with lovely sweeping views of the town and Proper Bay in the distance.

At the front of the gently sloping block a circular driveway is surrounded by clipped rosemary with a wide and varied selection of plants filling the garden beds. A path leads up to the house through many assorted roses, including a spectacular row of standard red ‘Courage’ and the prolifically flowering ‘Iceberg’ in several colours: the usual white, but also pink and burgundy varieties. Massed seaside daisy planted as a border looks stunning.

At the back is a sheltered courtyard with a glory vine covered pergola and many brightly coloured mosaiced pots made all the more vibrant with the petunias, strawberries and assorted succulents that fill them.

Beautiful walls of local Kopio stone are a real feature and retain the slope creating flat terraces for areas of garden, the many fruit trees and a productive veggie patch. Perennials, a number of bearded iris, spring bulbs and more succulents are scattered throughout with a row of superb peachy coloured ‘Amber Sun’ roses completing the picture. Rocks, garden art and pieces crafted by the owner add extra colour and a touch of fun to this pretty, cheerful garden.

Extra activities: Cake, produce and plant sales.

Size: 2000sqm.

The nominated charity for this garden is Melanoma Research.
