The McPherson Garden is a charming English style cottage garden crammed with colourful flowering plants, roses, succulents and box hedges. Neighbouring trees provide shade to the tiered back garden where original retaining walls built of local limestone create two terraces of lawn edged with neat hedges, flowers and interesting foliage.

The supports for the deck behind the house are used as a frame work for pretty pink Pierre de Ronsard roses which climb up and fringe the deck edge. Shaded with a glory vine and making a lovely spot for alfresco meals, the deck overlooks the back garden with views to the city beyond – the perfect place for visitors to enjoy morning or afternoon tea!

Further down the block a sunny area is well used for productive gardening with apples trees espaliered along a wall and, also dwarf orange trees and wicking beds stocked with strawberries and vegetables.  Bird attracting water features, a raised cubby house and several pieces of corten steel sculpture add further interest.

The Japanese maples and glory vine have been selected to provide autumn colour.

A compact, enclosed and sheltered garden where every piece of available space has been put to good use and made attractive and appealing.
