Description

At last we can welcome you to the OGSA 2020 Spring Season as the SA Health Department has now allowed us to open as public gardens, avoiding the limitations of residential gardens. We will follow a Covid Safe Plan with suitable distancing.

We will be offering refreshments and have a Covid Marshall to ensure that everyone is seated while enjoying food or beverages.

Please check back prior to the weekend in case there has been any change in Health Department regulations.

Situated on an extremely exposed rocky limestone hill, Fiddlestix is an extraordinary garden created from quirky collectables, found objects and mosaics …….. as well as plants!

As soon as you enter through the large metal gate in the eye-catching colourful ‘bottle wall’, the quirkiness of this garden is apparent! From the very large structures made of recycled materials to unusual containers overflowing with succulents in all shapes and colours it is almost impossible to decide what to look at first …… the sunken mosaic wine garden, the arbour made of bicycle wheels covered in vivid red flowering passionflower vine, the original outback dunny once an essential part of the local store, the mud kitchen and fairy garden for the kids or the firepit area complete with a barbed wire chandelier!

But there is more ……. over the ’zebra crossing’ in the driveway to the large scale, limestone labyrinth and the newest additions – the chook palace complete with playground and dust bath, and the fabulous new vegie garden with large arbours and raised beds, fruit trees and vines, all fenced to keep the friendly kangaroos outside.

Bearded iris, salvias, geraniums, valerian, daisies, euphorbia, dwarf alstroemeria and osteospermum provide colour, with the strappy leaves of cordylines and flax making a lovely contrast.

A unique garden that needs to be seen to be believed!

Extra activities: The progress association will offer tea, coffee and cake.

Size: 0.4 acres

Please note: this garden has some uneven pathways and narrow paths.

The nominated charity for this garden is: Coffin Bay Progress Association.
