Denise’s Garden is large; nearly an acre jam-packed back and front with colourful flowering plants, hedges, topiary, vegetable beds, a covered orchard, a chook yard and a collection of lush potted ferns on the veranda!

There is colour everywhere - the path to the front door is lined with vibrant yellow roses underplanted with massed ranunculi and other bright spring flowering bulbs. By contrast, in a corner several established trees shelter camellias and shade loving plants.

One side of the drive is edged with the velvety silver foliage and the airy crimson flowers of Pelargonium sidoides, and the other with ornamental pear trees and a long line of clipped diosma spheres that lead the way to the back garden. A wisteria covering a pergola adds more colour and perfume.

Paths in the back garden are lined with clipped box hedges which create a well-defined green framework and restrain the exuberant roses, flowering shrubs, perennials and even more bulbs that fill the garden beds. There are standard, bush and pillar roses; and climbers along with clematis and sweet peas cover several arches. An ornamental almond is spectacular when in flower.

The garden is also productive – in addition to an extensive fruit cage planted with citrus and stone fruits, there are several espaliered fruit trees and a large, well-stocked vegetable garden. In the chook yard, black, white, brown and speckled hens add yet another dash of colour!

Size: 0.8 acres; 0.3 ha.

Please note: there is a small elevated pot pond.

The chosen charity is: CFS
