The garden will open under covid guidelines.

Tickle Tank, the unique home of sculptor Irene Pearce has delighted and inspired thousands of visitors over the years. Once the storage tank for the water supply to the surrounding town, Irene bought the property in 1998, and with great vision added several smaller tanks and transformed them into a beautiful, quirky but comfortable home. Over time she has decorated both inside and outside with colourful mosaics and creative artwork made mostly from recycled objects.

The garden is wrapped closely around the tanks and everywhere there are clever ideas, surprises and whimsy! The site is sloping so there are steps, winding paths and retaining walls often inset with mosaic and adapted to double as seats. The driveway and much of the exterior of the home have also been decorated with mosaic - one area of wall is draped with a permanently flowering white mosaic wisteria!

A curving sculpture of a dragon forms another enchanting seat and dotted everywhere are pots, statues, brightly tiled birdbaths, artwork and ‘found treasure’ all adding permanent colour to an already colourful display of plants.

Cottage perennials, self-seeding annuals mixed with Australian native plants and succulents, many planted in innovative containers, are packed into the compact 450 square metre block and add to the charm.

A joyful, happy garden full of interest and creativity!

Extra activities: Raffle and sale of plants, painted pots, garden art, glass.

Please note: This garden has a small pond as well as steep slopes, steps and uneven paths.

Size: 450sqm.

The chosen charity is: The Purple House (Alice Springs)
