Description

Please note: Sunday opening only

Meticulously planned by former landscape designer Evette Sunset, Etre is a garden for all seasons. The design resembles a beautifully arranged Japanese food box with exquisite detail at every turn.

Evette is an environmental sculptor making extensive use of natural materials, found objects, and re-purposed building materials. A stepping stone entry path of re-cycled concrete has been interplanted like a wild Greek hillside with thyme, Dymondia and local miniature pigface.

Cladding boards from the house build now form raised vegetable beds; an outdoor shower is surrounded by the lush foliage of camellia, gardenia and lime; winter honeysuckle has been woven into a highly perfumed wall and the scented rosemary hedge is ideal for drying socks!

The garden is planted to a bold color palette of reds, blues, purple and white.  A row of umbrella-like tree euphorbia framing herbs, and a mini creek to drain surface water are just two of the clever and imaginative ideas that make Etre so interesting.

Twenty one fruit and nut trees, including cherry guava and macadamia, create a cool summer forest protecting the 'blue hill' of salvias, ornamental grasses and interlaced living mulch.

Most surprising of all, this garden is largely under five years old, testament to Evette’s horticultural skill and extensive plant knowledge.

Extra activities: Evette will do a walk and talk at 11am and 2pm on her design and planting concepts. Light lunches and teas provided by 'Gumboot Cafe'.

Size: 630sqm.

Please note: This garden is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.

The nominated charity for this garden is: Bassett St Neighborhood Group for reserve tree planting, auspiced by Willunga Environment Centre
